Hebridean Princess
Hebridean Princess currently operates as a luxury cruise ship for Hebridean Island Cruises. Built in 1964 by Hall, Russell and Company of Aberdeen for the Secretary of State for Scotland and operated for David MacBrayne Ltd as MV Columba. The vessel had a very different life as a MacBrayne Car Ferry and Royal Mail Ship for services on the Western Isles of Scotland. In 1989 the vessel underwent a major refit and emerged as a luxury cruise ship, Hebridean Princess. Notably the Hebridean Princess has been chartered on two occasions to the Royal Family. Firstly HRH Queen Elizabeth II chartered the vessel for a family tour of the Scottish Islands in July 2006. Again HRH Queen Elizabeth II chartered the vessel for another tour of the Scottish Islands from Stornoway in July 2010 for two weeks.
