Scenic Carlingford Ferry

Scenic Carlingford Ferry is a service operated by Frazer Ferries. The service operates on a cross border route between Greencastle, Co Down (NI) - Greenore, Co Louth (ROI), small communities on either side of Carlingford Lough. The Single vessel service operates all year round with vessel Aisling Gabrielle, formerly known as Foyle Venture. The service had been in the planning for some time and had been subject to appeals and delays brought about by those in opposition to the proposals. However Aisling Gabrielle arrived on Carlingford Lough in May 2017 and began trials and certification procedures. Commencement of sailings was scheduled originally for June 2017 but due to delays with equipment and other operational factors this was postponed. The first commercial sailing on took place from Greenore arriving at Greencastle on 21st July 2017. Sailings operate on the hour from Greencastle and on the half hour from Greenore with an approximate journey time of 20mins. As of October 2020 this service is currently suspended due to the spread of COVID-19 and travel restrictions in place by Irish Authorities.
