Stena Superfast VIII

Stena Superfast VIII works back to back with sister vessel Stena Superfast VII on the Belfast - Cairnryan (Loch Ryan Port) route for Stena Line. Built in 2001 for Superfast Ferries service been Rostock - Hanko, Superfast VIII was part of a series of 4 Vessels. Tallink aquired the vessel in 2006/7 as part of a buy out of Superfast Ferries services from Germany, while the Superfast VIII name remained with the vessel during this time. Stena Line chartered the vessel to begin operating its new Belfast - Cairnryan (Loch Ryan Port) service beginning on 21st November 2011. Prior to entering service with Stena Line Superfast VIII was given the Stena prefix and sent to Gdansk, Poland for conversion work. Much of the interior work to the vessel was carried out by MJM Marine of Newry, Co Down. After extensive conversion work to both vehicle decks and passenger accomodation the vessel entered service with the on 21st November 2011. The Superfast name was an excellent marketing tool for Stena Line given the fact the vessels replaced the High Speed Craft HSS Stena Voyager. Stena Line has since renewed their charter until at least 2019.
